Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) faced off at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, in which Hardik Pandya's side won the game by seven wickets. This win puts MI in third position in the league standings, while Sunrisers Hyderabad's season is almost over. Hardik Pandya has turned this season around for his side after facing a lot of criticism in the last season.

Meanwhile, after the game, SRH pacer Mohammed Shami, who was benched due to his poor performance, was seen requesting Pandya's autograph on India’s Champions Trophy jersey.

MI captain gave him an autograph on the jersey and hugged him. Both players helped India to win the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 by beating New Zealand in the final match in Dubai. India lifted the ICC Champions Trophy for the second time after 2013. Both players played a key role in helping India to win another ICC title. This tournament marked Mohammed Shami's strong comeback. He returned to the team after two years and picked up nine wickets from five games. Shami missed the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 due to an injury that he sustained during the ODI World Cup 2023.
Reunion after long time
Since Hardik and Shami were both a part of the Gujarat Titans setup, it was a reunion. Notably, Shami and Hardik played for the Gujarat Titans in 2022. In their first IPL season, Pandya was captain and led the team to their first IPL trophy. In IPL 2023, Shami played 17 games and picked 28 wickets, making his name in the season. Even after changing teams, they are still very close friends.
