Rohit Sharma credits Abhishek Nayar for his match-winning 76-run knock against CSK in Mumbai

The former Mumbai Indians skipper and the batting stalwart, Rohit Sharma, played a match-winning and decisive unbeaten knock of 76 runs to help his side beat CSK by a massive 9-wicket margin in Mumbai. Sharma also won the ‘Player of the Match' award for his amazing comeback knock against the arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings.

Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav powered MI to thrash CSK by 9 wickets

Speaking of the game's action between MI and CSK at Wankhede in Mumbai, the hosts’ skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and asked CSK to bat first. Batting first, the visitors posted 176 runs for losing 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, owing to the half-centuries scored by Ravindra Jadeja (53 runs) and Shivam Dube (50 runs). Earlier in the innings, the teenage debutant Ayush Mhatre also smashed 32 runs off just 15 balls, with 4 fours and two sixes. 

Jasprit Bumrah scalped 2 wickets for MI in the first innings, alongside a wicket each bagged by Deepak Chahar, Ashwani Kumar, and Mitchell Santner.

While chasing the target, the former MI skipper Rohit Sharma and star batter Suryakumar Yadav completely outmuscled the CSK bowling attack. Alongside Rohit’s 76 runs off just 45 balls, with 4 fours and sixes, Suryakumar Yadav also smashed a swashbuckling knock off 68 runs for off just 30 balls, with six fours and five sixes.

On the back of these knocks, MI scored 177 runs for the loss of just 1 wicket in only 15.4 overs and chased down the target with 26 balls to spare, winning the game by 9 wickets to keep their hopes alive in the tournament.
