Axar Patel, an all-rounder for India, was dismissed by Kane Williamson of New Zealand with a spectacular one-handed catch in the last league game of the Champions Trophy 2025 between the two nations. Williamson hung on to it brilliantly, even if it wasn't an easy catch.

Rachin Ravindra, a left-arm spinner, delivered a short delivery into the middle and leg, and Axar attempted to tap it over the short fine-leg fielder. However, the additional bounce gave Axar a decisive advantage. The veteran maintained his focus on the ball, retreated from a short fine leg stance, and eventually put his right hand over his shoulder to cling onto a spectacular catch when it looked like the ball would elude him earlier.

Axar Patel added 98 runs for the fourth wicket with Shreyas Iyer, helping India rally from 30/3 in 6.4 overs to reach 128/4 in 29.2 overs. Axar lived up to the expectations by producing a crucial knock in the most recent Group A match, when the Indian team management put him to bat at No. 5 ahead of KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya.

India got off to poor start

Virat Kohli is playing in his 300th One-Day International for India, but the right-handed batsman hasn't done much with the bat. Despite getting off to a good start, he was unable to turn it into a significant knock. On the fourth delivery of Matt Henry's seventh over of the Indian innings, Glenn Phillips caught Kohli. Kohli's 300th match saw him score 11 runs off of 14 balls.

Both world No. 1 ODI batsman Shubman Gill and Indian skipper Rohit Sharma did not accomplish much with the bat during the encounter against New Zealand. Henry trapped Gill for two runs from seven deliveries in front of the wickets, while Kyle Jamieson removed Rohit for fifteen runs.
