Star India batter Shreyas Iyer has been in good form with the bat in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He scored a crucial half-century in the last game against the arch-rivals Pakistan, scoring 56 runs that played a vital role in India’s 6-wicket win. He has been one of the crucial assets with the bat for Team Indi, especially while batting at number four.
Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer also made it to the headlines for his recent heartfelt conversation with a net bowler in Dubai ahead of India’s next game against New Zealand. Iyer gifted his spikes to a net bowler in the nets.
“Today was one such special moment of my life” – Net bowler on his meeting with Shreyas Iyer
After the net session, the ICC net bowling team’s Jaskiran Singh also revealed his conversation with Shreyas Iyer. Jaskiran Singh also spoke about when Iyer asked him for his shoe size.
“I am a part of the ICC net bowling team for the Champions Trophy. Today was one such special moment of my life. Received these spikes from Shreyas Iyer. I was fielding at long-off when Shreyas Bhai approached me and asked, "Paaji kya haal-chaal, sab badiya? What's your shoe size? I said 10, and then he said I've got something for you, and he gave me these spikes, and it means a lot. In this tournament, I've fielded for them but was waiting for an opportunity to bowl to them,” Jaskiran Singh was quoted as saying by PTI News.
Apart from all this, former India batter Aakash Chopra also made a big statement while speaking about Shreyas Iyer. Chopra feels that Iyer has been under-appreciated for the last couple of times in ODI cricket.
“I feel Shreyas Iyer is under-appreciated at times. He has been scoring runs. He was tested with bouncers. Then it seemed like it was an obvious weakness, and he also got injured after that and went out, but before that, he scored 500 runs in the ODI World Cup he played. His story is extremely interesting,” said Aakash Chopra in a video on his YouTube channel.
