In a breathtaking display of power hitting, England captain Jos Buttler dismantled the USA’s bowling attack during their clash in the T20 World Cup 2024. Buttler’s extraordinary feat came in the ninth over of the innings, where he hammered five consecutive sixes off left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh, racking up a colossal 32 runs in that over alone.

After Phil Salt handed him the strike with a single off the first ball of Harmeet's over, Buttler took charge. He began by advancing down the track and launching the ball over long-off for the first six. The second six came from a slower delivery, which Buttler dispatched to the deep mid-wicket boundary.

Demonstrating remarkable versatility, he struck the third six with a straight, golf-like shot down the ground. The fourth six was a leg-stump delivery that Buttler sent soaring over square leg. He capped the over with a powerful hit towards Long-on, shattering the solar panel glass in the process.

England thrashed the USA within 10 overs!

This blistering knock not only showcased Buttler’s superb timing and power but also his ability to read the bowler’s intentions and adjust his shots accordingly. His aggressive approach was instrumental in England's emphatic response after their earlier stumble against South Africa

The defending champions restricted the USA to a modest 115 and chased down the target with remarkable ease, thanks in large part to Buttler's heroics. Buttler finished the match unbeaten on 83 off just 38 balls, a knock that included multiple boundaries and those unforgettable five sixes.

Phil Salt played the supporting role perfectly, allowing Buttler to dominate and finish the game in quick time. England's chase was completed with 10 overs and two balls to spare, ensuring a significant boost to their net run rate.

This dominant victory not only secured England's progression in the tournament but also positioned them favourably in their group. Depending on the outcome of the West Indies vs. South Africa match, England stands a strong chance of topping the group, potentially avoiding a semi-final clash with India.
