Australian cricket sensation Sam Konstas has built huge buzz after his recent exploits with the bat against India. The 19-year-old is back to playing Big Bash League (BBL) for Sydney Thunder and was dismissed cheaply for just nine runs during the Sydney Derby on Friday.
The incident occurred during the fifth ball of the 4th over of the innings being bowled by Jack Edwards. Konstas got a terrific yorker from Edwards that had shades of Jasprit Bumrah to rattle his stumps. The 19-year-old could only walk back to the hut in disappointment after being dismissed early.

Moises Henriques won the toss for Sydney Sixers and asked the opposition to bat first. Sydney Thunder were placed at 36/1 in the sixth over overs before the match was abandoned owing to heavy rain. Skipper David Warner was batting on 22 runs from 14 balls with three boundaries and one six with Hugh Weibgen batting on one run.
David Warner names his choice as opener for Sri Lankan series
Australia have qualified for the WTC finals and are set to take on South Africa in the massive game in June. Before that Steve Smith will lead the defending WTC Champions to a short tour of Sri Lanka to take part in two-match Test series.
Sam Konstas and Nathan McSweeney are part of the squad with both being favorites to open the batting. Former Australian star David Warner though feels that Travis Head should be given the chance as an opener. Warner stated that Head’s experience of playing spinners will hold Australia in good stead.
38-year-old Warner said “In the subcontinent over the years, we've not had a great deal of success. What does success look like for the Australian cricket team? It's getting off to a good start and being able to capitalise. So I think it's a good move putting Trav (Travis Head) up at the top of the order to get us off to a good start. Could Sam do that as well? He probably could. But I think with the experience that Trav's got and the opposition probably going, 'Wow, it's Travis Head, we're going to have to be on point from ball one”
The former opening batter’s view was supported by Marnus Labuschagne who said “When he played last in the sub-continent, in India, he had a lot of success when he batted at the top of the order, It wasn’t a whole heap of sample size, but what we did see in the first probably 10 overs where the balls are new, that it’s a good opportunity to score, and one thing we know about Travis is he can score fast, especially against pace bowling”
Labuschagne also added “He can really put them under pressure, and he’s really tough to bowl to, so if you can maximise the impact you’re having there, then there certainly looks like there’s value there for him to stay up there, his spin game’s developed, so he can bat either at the top or in the middle. It’s probably just more what suits the team the best. It’s our job to find a way to outperform the opposition, and we just need to make sure we continue to find a way to do that.”
