WATCH: Jasprit Bumrah’s brute of a ball gets rid of Marnus Labuschagne for 2

India's stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah has taken his Player of the Series performance to another level with an amazing bowling display. After dismissing Usman Khawaja in the last ball of day one, the 31-year-old got the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne early on Day two. The incident happened in the second ball of the sixth over of the innings. 

Bumrah bowled the perfect ball to the Australian number 3 batter, which took the edge of his bat. The batter looked away and acted as if nothing had happened, but the Indian players were confident. Bumrah decided to send the call to the third umpire. As the replays came in, it was seen that there was an edge off the bat.

The TV umpire Joel Wilson asked for the decision to be reversed as Indian players celebrated with delight. Labuschagne had no choice but to take the walk back to the hut for just two runs from 8 balls. It was a huge boost for India who had scored a mere 185 on the board in their first innings. 

Former Australian star slams Sam Konstas

There was drama just before the last few balls of the first day could be bowled. Just as Usman Khawaja was set to face the ball the batter stopped Bumrah who was charging into bowl. Sam Konstas who was at the non-striker’s end seemed to exchange a few words with the bowler who responded in kind and the umpires had to step in. 

Bumrah had the last laugh after he dismissed Khawaja and turned to Konstas to glare at him. Each and every member of Team India ran to the young batter and celebrated aggressively. The attitude shown by Konstas didn’t impress former Australian player Tom Moody who made his displeasure known on his X handle. 

Tom Moody wrote, “Sam Konstas has much to learn. I hope the dressing room is offering that guidance without suppressing his confidence and youthful enthusiasm”. Konstas has been in the news for his altercation with Virat Kohli after the former India skipper shoulder-barged him last match. Konstas scored 60 runs in the first innings of his Test career at the MCG.
