MI was given a slow over rate penalty in the final over of the Warriorz innings. Ajitesh Argal, the on-field umpire, informed Harmanpreet Kaur that MI would only be permitted three fielders beyond the circle rather than four as a penalty. Dissatisfied with the ruling, Harmanpreet started arguing with the umpire. Amelia Kerr also engaged in the discussion as she prepared to bowl for the final time. Harmanpreet became increasingly angry when Ecclestone intervened at the non-striker's end.

The MI captain made several furious gestures and appeared furious. Play resumed after N. Janani, the on-field umpire, intervened. The additional fielder inside the ring didn't cost MI much because Kerr only conceded seven runs and removed Eccelstone and Deepti Sharma, limiting the Warriorz to 150 for nine.

UP Warriorz is on brink of elimination

Harmanpreet was penalized 10% of her match earnings for violating the WPL Code of Conduct following the unpleasant event.  She admitted to voicing disapproval of an umpire's call during a game, which is a Level 1 offense under Article 2.8. MI won the match by six wickets, giving them the final laugh. Amelia Kerr concluded with statistics of 4-0-38-5, making her the first bowler from MI to capture five wickets in the WPL. But when Harmanpreet was hit for four by Grace Harris, she was unable to succeed with the bat.

Hayley Matthews scored 68 runs off 46 balls, including two sixes and eight fours, to win Player of the Match.  MI's victory put them in second place in the standings. Conversely, the Warriorz are almost eliminated from the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025.
