Dewald Brevis' joining the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was a blessing in disguise. Dewald Brevis joined CSK as a replacement for Gurjapneet Singh, who suffered an injury in the midseason. With Dewald Brevis joining the side, CSK got a fighting spirit, and the team got significant benefit from his performance. In their poor season, Brevis was the bright spot, even if the team ended in last position first time in its sixteen-year history.
