Pakistan have had a terrible start in the first Test against Bangladesh after being invited to bat in Rawalpindi. Losing three wickets for 16 runs in 8.2 overs, they seemed to be heading for a massive collapse. Hasan Mahmud and Shoriful Islam wreaked havoc with the new ball to deny the hosts a strong start.

However, things took a turn in Pakistan’s favour when Saud Shakeel and opener Saim Ayub opted to spend maximum time at the crease. Ayub departed after scoring a half-century and stitching a 100-run partnership with Shakeel. The duo set the stage and later Mohammad Rizwan teamed up with Shakeel to take the game away from the visitors.

Meanwhile, a video of keeper-batter Rizwan hitting back-to-back innovative shots has gone viral on social media. Batting on 46*, Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana bowled a sharp bouncer and Rizwan, confused about whether to play or leave the ball, guided the ball into the third-man region four a boundary.

During the attempt, he moved away from the line and fell on the crease after losing balance. However, it marked his half-century. The right-hander tried to play a similar shot on the very next ball and this time the ball landed over the rope. Once again he fell on the crease while showing off his flexibility.

Rizwan, Shakeel demolish Bangladesh with superb tons

Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel have put Pakistan in the driver’s seat with a record fifth-wicket partnership. The duo completed a 200-run partnership and is still unbeaten as Bangladesh pacers went clueless. Shakeel and Rizwan continued their partnership in the morning session of Day 2 after adding 44 runs in the final session of Day 1.

They kept ticking the scoreboard with singles and doubles and never hesitated to strike boundaries on loose balls. Notably, they also took an all-run four, thanks to Bangladesh’s comical fielding. Both batters have completed their respective centuries as Pakistan crossed 300-mark.
