The second day of the First Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh started on time. At the end of the first day, Pakistan had lost four wickets. Saim Ayub scored an impressive fifty after the home team were reduced to 16/3 at one stage. When the stumps were drawn Saud Shakeel was batting along with Mohammad Rizwan.

On the second day of the game, the Bangladeshi fielder's comic show allowed Pakistani batters to claim an all-run four. The incident happened when Saud Shakeel drove down the ground the fielder dived over the ball.

Thinking the ball was going to hit the boundary cushion the other fielder stopped chasing the ball. The two Bangladeshi players shared looks but the ball stopped much before the boundary. This allowed the Pakistani batters to get an all-run four by the time the ball was fielded and thrown back to the bowler’s end.

Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan lead strong reply

After a horrendous start to the game, Pakistan came back strongly as Saim Ayub, Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan batted. After 60 overs the home team were placed at 228/4 with Shakeel and Rizwan having added an unbeaten 114 runs for the 5th wicket.

Saud Shakeel was batting on 76 runs from 147 balls with 5 fours while Rizwan was batting on 79 off 95 balls. The Pakistani batter had hit 7 fours and 1 six during his counter-attacking knock.

Speaking at the end of the 1st day, Saim Ayub said “The only thing I concentrated on was to play as long as possible, but unfortunately, everything is not in your hands. It was difficult initially, but when any partnership gets going, it obviously looks easy from the outside. You cannot take red-ball cricket lightly at any point in time. We tried to extend the partnership as long as possible”

The young opening batter also said “The first thing is to watch the ball, assess the conditions, and figure out which bowlers are effective. A bad ball is a bad ball, and I can't let that go unpunished,"

“Attacking cricket is important. If the opponent gives you an opportunity, you have to capitalize on it. If you don't, you get bogged down, and they dominate. So, I always try to see if the opponent gives some space; I wait for it and then take advantage," further added Saim Ayub.
