Axar Patel produced a brilliant effort in the field during the match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2025. The DC skipper pulled off a one-handed catch, realized that he was close to the boundary ropes, and hence threw the ball away to save 5 runs for his side. It helped DC to restrict a strong MI batting lineup to a total of just above 200.
In the 4th ball of the 18th over, Mitchell Starc bowled to Naman Dhir, who seemed to be in great touch. The emerging star had hit two boundaries in consecutive deliveries off Starc's bowling. He then tried to go a notch further to hit a six. As Starc went fuller, Naman held on to his lofted straight drive and hoped the ball would gain enough to get over the fence.
Axar, a tall fielder and the DC skipper had stationed himself in the long-off region. As the ball approached him, Patel reached the point and caught it with one of his hands. However, his feet were very close to the boundary ropes. Hence, the star fielder threw the ball and landed on his feet. His brilliant efforts ensured DC saved 5 precious runs.

MI posted 205/5 against DC in the IPL 2025
Despite the surface being dry and slightly on the slower side, MI posted 205/5 on the board, thanks to a collectively good performance from their batting unit. Ryan Rickleton scored 41(25) and played a key part in the powerplay overs. In the middle overs, Suryakumar Yadav initially struggled but ended up scoring 40(28).
The key batters for MI were Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir, who scored 59(33) and 38*(17), respectively. DC’s bowling was decent. Kuldeep Yadav bowled yet another exceptional spell, as he claimed 2/23. His spell helped DC to restrict MI from scoring a total of around 200. Coupled with Axar's fielding effort, Kuldeep and DC ensured DC had to chase around a par total.
