The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was suspended after 57 games were played. Match number 58 between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was suspended in Dharamshala just after 10 overs were played. The move comes after there have been mounting tensions between India and Pakistan in the last few games. Once the stadium floodlights in Dharamshala were shut, the players along with the fans soon made their way out of the ground.

The game in Wankhede Stadium saw the Mumbai Indians bat first and score 155 runs on the board. Will Jacks top scored with 53 runs, while Suryakumar Yadav scored 35 for the home side. In reply, GT lost the wicket of Sai Sudharsan early before the wicket for five runs. Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler added 72 runs for the second wicket before MI bowlers struck. After the first rain interruption, GT were ahead by eight runs on the DLS method. The second rain break saw MI sneak ahead but the game soon resumed with GT needing 15 runs from six balls. Rahul Tewatia’s boundary and Gerald Coetzee’s six sealed a last-ball win for GT in one of the best matches of IPL 2025.

Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi witnessed the first super over in the IPL for a while in the Delhi Capitals (DC) versus Rajasthan Royals (RR) encounter. DC batted first and scored 188 on the board. Mitchell Starc defended nine runs from the final over of the match as the game went into a super over. RR batted first in the tie-breaker and scored 11 runs and lost their two batters with a ball left to play. Delhi saw KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs take just four balls to help DC complete a key win for their side.

Considered one of the best matches of IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by two runs at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. It was RCB who were asked to bat first and the home team scored 213 runs on the board from their 20 overs. Virat Kohli (62) and Jacob Bethell (55) gave RCB a great start before Romario Shepherd’s 53 not out from 14 balls. In reply, CSK saw Ayush Mhatre scored 48 balls and Ravindra Jadeja hit 77 not out. Yash Dayal produced a death-over bowling classic to help RCB win the game by two runs.

Axar Patel and his Delhi side were involved in an enthralling finish against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the start of the season. Lucknow batted first and posted a mammoth 209 runs on the board thanks to Mitchell Marsh’s 72 and a 30-ball 75 from Nicholas Pooran. In reply, DC were tottering at 65 for five at one stage. The revival began when Tristan Stubbs and Vipraj Nigam added 48 runs for the sixth wicket. Ashutosh Sharma battled hard to eke out a one-wicket win with three balls to spare. Sharma was not out on 66 off just 31 balls with five boundaries and five sixes.

The best game of IPL 2025 before it was suspended was played in Mullanpur, featuring Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Batting first, Punjab were all out for a mere 111 runs in the 16th over. KKR lost their openers early to be played at seven for two at one stage. Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi then added 55 runs for the third wicket to put KKR back in the driver’s seat. Once Rahane was dismissed, the wheels came off; KKR were all out for 95, losing by 16 runs. Yuzvendra Chahal was the best bowler for PBKS with figures of 4/28 from his four overs.
