Suryakumar Yadav addressed his poor form following the conclusion of the T20I series against South Africa, ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. The Indian T20I skipper accepted that he has lost himself as a batter in the last year or so. However, the unorthodox batter promised to be back in form at the right time and was happy with the team's performance.

"We did almost everything we wanted to. Maybe the only thing we couldn’t quite manage was finding “Surya the batter” I think he went missing somewhere!(smiles) But he’ll be back stronger. As a team, I’m really happy. Whenever we were in trouble, someone always put their hand up and pulled us through. As captain, that’s very satisfying," Suryakumar said in the post-match talk.

In the fifth T20I in Ahmedabad, India's bowling was unique, as Washington Sundar bowled 3 overs within Powerplay. Yadav claimed that it was a part of the plan to see how the team would cope up in a different situation. Suryakumar noted that holding Bumrah back was also a part of the plan.

"It’s been challenging but a very good series," - Suryakumar Yadav

"Yes, we wanted to try something different. The plan was to use Bumrah in one over in the powerplay, control the middle phase after drinks and then have him ready for the death overs," the Indian skipper added in his statement.

"Washi stepped up brilliantly today and took responsibility. We were under pressure at times, we were challenged, but this game is about how you respond and the boys did really well. It’s been challenging but a very good series," Suryakumar revealed in the post-match talk.
