"In my experience, we needed to address systems, processes, communication and integrity behind the scenes to give us the best chance on the field. Advocacy can be tough, but that’s the weight of responsibility. Their response was that my standards were above the standards of Italian cricket," Burns wrote to his teammates, as reported by The Australia.

The former Australian cricketer added that a lot of misinformation was spread about him and was used as an excuse to disguise poor operations. Burns added that his true intentions have always been to take care of his teammates well and ensure Italy's best version as a team. He criticised the Italian Board for twisting the facts in their favor.
