India beat the visiting side by a whopping 101 runs to claim a lead of 1-0 in the series. Most of South Africa's lowest T20I totals have been registered against India, Australia, and Pakistan.

South Africa's second lowest T20I total was also against India in Rajkot in 2022, when they were dismissed for just 87 runs. Against Australia in 2020 in Johannesburg, South Africa was dismissed for 89, which is their third-lowest total.

In a rain-affected game in December 2023 in Johannesburg, India dismissed South Africa for 95, which is their fourth-lowest in T20Is. The fifth-least T20I total came aaginst Australia in Cape Town in 2020, when they were dismissed for just 96. In the series, Australia dismissed SA for two of their lowest T20I totals at the time.

Against Sri Lanka in Colombo (RPS) in 2018, South Africa was dismissed for only 98, which is their sixth-lowest in T20Is. Against Pakistan in Centurion in 2013, South Africa was dismissed for 100, which is their seventh-lowest in T20Is. Against Australia in Melbourne in 2014, South Africa was restricted for 100, which is their eighth-lowest in T20Is.

Against India in Thiruvananthapuram in 2022, South Africa was restricted for 106/8, which is their ninth-lowest in T20Is. Against Pakistan in Lahore in 2025, South Africa was dismissed for 110, which is their tenth-lowest in T20Is. South Africa ended up losing all the matches in the list.
