The young SRH opener Abhishek Sharma broke his silence on the heated on-field spat with the LSG spinner Digvesh Rathi in the LSG vs SRH game in Lucknow. The incident unfolded during SRH’s run chase during the second innings of the game, when Rathi dismissed Sharma, followed by provoking the latter with his controversial ‘notebook celebration’.
It didn’t go down well with the young SRH Southpaw, and he responded furiously to Rathi’s behaviour. The exchange went on to the extent of heated altercation, which compelled umpires and other players to step in and calm both players.
After the end of the game, with SRH beating LSG by 6 wickets, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla was also seen meeting Abhishek and Digvesh.
Besides that, Abhishek was also asked about the incident, and he came up with an explanation for the development in the situation.
“I spoke to him after the game, and it is all good now,” said Sharma in the post-match presentation after his match-winning knock for SRH.
Taking disciplinary action in the same regard, the BCCI and IPL suspended Digvesh Rathi for a game, and he will be missing LSG’s last league match in the ongoing IPL 2025. Sharma also faced a 25 per cent fine of his match fee.
