Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) produced yet another high-scoring encounter. SRH having been set 206-runs to win the game scored runs at quick pace thanks to Abhishek Sharma who scored 59 off 20 balls. Digvesh Rathi and Abhishek Sharma were involved in angry confrontation after the batter was out.
This act by the LSG bowler didn’t sit down well with many SRH fans who had traveled to Lucknow to watch the game. Kamindu Mendis who came at the fall of Ishan Kishan’s wicket went after Rathi hitting the bowler for three successive fours. Cameras soon caught one SRH fan in the crowd mocking the LSG supports with the ‘Notebook’ celebration.
Earlier in the day, Pat Cummins had won the toss and decided to bowl first and saw the home team score 205 runs on the board. Mitchell Marsh scored 65 runs while Aiden Markram was out after scoring 61. Nicholas Pooran’s late assault with the bat helped LSG post a huge score on the board.
Lucknow on the cusp of IPL 2025 exit
Rishabh Pant and his side came into the contest needing three wins from to keep their hopes playoffs alive. It wasn’t the case Sunrisers Hyderabad batters and bad bowling from the home team saw their tournament end early. William O Rourke got the first wicket for the home team when he had Atharva Taide caught at third man for 13.
The second wicket pair of Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma added 82 runs in just 35 balls. Sharma got to his fifty off just 18 balls after he slammed Ravi Bishnoi for four successive sixes in the leg-spinner’s only over. Digvesh Rathi got his second wicket of the day when he castled Ishan Kishan for 35 off just 28 balls with three boundaries and two sixes.
With SRH in a strong position, LSG bowlers and skipper Rishabh Pant knew the end was near. Loss on Monday will mean that Lucknow are out of the tournament and will not qualify for the playoffs for second successive season.
