It takes time, but life comes full circle in all possible ways, be it for an individual or a group of individuals, especially in the game of cricket. Everyone was stunned when the Australia skipper gave a shocking statement during the pre-match press conference before the ODI World Cup 2023 Final against India.

He said that there’s ‘nothing more satisfying than hearing a big crowd go silent,’ being confident of Australia’s win in the World Cup final against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium. In an unfortunate turnaround of events for the Indian cricket fans, it also happened the same way, and Pat Cummins-led Australia won the World Cup 2023, beating India in the final.

But, in an interesting line of events, it took 15 months for Pat Cummins to make a 180-degree change in his statement at the same Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It happened after SRH’s 38-run defeat against the Gujarat Titans in the 51st game of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025.

Cummins termed the Narendra Modi Stadium’s crowd as nice and very loud in his statement during the post-match conversation.

“We weren't at our best. It was a really good wicket, going for 140 off the last 14 was a good effort from our bowling group. Felt we were in the game with our batters. But in the end, it was a bridge too far. Abhishek batted nicely, and Nitish did well too. We left a bit too much for the batters,” said Cummins after the 38-run loss against GT.

“We have to cling to some hope. Big auction last year. This group will be together for three years, hopefully, so lots to play for. Great venue, very few empty seats, crowd was nice and loud,” he added later.

Speaking of the action of the game between GT and SRH, the hosts batted first and posted a big total of 224 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In response to this total, Sunrisers Hyderabad were restricted to a total of only 186 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the entire 20 overs. Eventually, Shubman Gill’s men won the game by a margin of 38  runs.
