Ahead of the first ODI of the series between India and South Africa in Ranchi, Rohit Sharma opened up on his career in the 50-over format. The former Indian skipper regarded it to be a mixture of Tests and T20s. With the bat, he scored 57(51) and broke many records in the first ODI.

Rohit spoke on BCCI's official interview, where he claimed the need to have a skillset to perfect the art of batting in ODIs. He added that for an opener, when the ball is hard, nice, and swings upfront, there's a need to think like a Test batter and play closer to the body.

"ODI Cricket is a mixture of Tests & T20s - you need to be that skillful to go out there & handle both the skillset - especially for me, I open the batting - ball is nice & hard, I know ball swings - you need to bring the Test cricket mind there, play close to the body," Rohit said in BCCI's interview.
