Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are one of the teams who have done well consistently but haven't won a single trophy yet. Even without a trophy, they have the most loyal fanbase which is a brilliant thing for any franchise. Having played under multiple captains starting from Daniel Vittori to Virat Kohli to Faf du Plessis, they have tried to do everything to go after the trophy but have failed in the finals thrice.
In the previous season, they won the last group stage game against CSK and then qualified for the playoffs, only to lose in the eliminator. The team is filled with star-stud players like Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj, and Du Plessis. Kohli was the Orange Cap winner in the IPL 2024 where he scored around 700 runs in 15 games. The 36-year-old leaves no chance of stunning the crowd with his performances.
The franchise has retained Kohli with a whopping amount of INR 21 crore and apart from him they have retained Rajat Patidar for INR 11 crore and Yash Dayal for INR 5 crore. They have kept their most trusted players in the team and will be eyeing some other trustworthy players who can help the team in the future.
RCB's mega auction buys for IPL 2025 updates:
Josh Hazelwood was the highest buy for RCB as they grabbed the Australian pacer by INR 12.50 crores. They required a pace bowler to make their bowling attack strong. RCB also picked up Phil Salt for INR 11.50 crore, and Jitesh Sharma for INR 11 crore. But their best buy was Bhuvneshwar Kumar for INR 10.75 crores who is a lethal bowler in the powerplays and can do wonders in the upcoming season. Showing trust in him was a good thing for RCB.
On Day 2 of the IPL 2025 auction RCB bought some key players like Tim David, Swapnil Singh, by using an RTM card, and Romario Shepherd. In a shocking move, they didn't use their RTM card to bring back Will Jacks who eventually went to Mumbai Indians.
