Veteran Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja roared back to form with a sensational fifer in the game against Delhi in the Ranji Trophy. The 36-year-old has been under the microscope for his indifferent performances in recent times. Delhi were bowled out for 188 on day one of the game at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.

Rishabh Pant who was marking his return to Ranji Trophy after seven years was out for just one run. The 27-year was caught by Prerak Mankad off Dharmendrasinh Jadeja to mark a low-key return to domestic cricket. Ravindra Jadeja began by dismissing Sanat Sangwan for 12 runs. 

Yash Dhull batted well to score 44 runs before he was out LBW to give Ravindra Jadeja his second wicket of the innings. Skipper Ayush Badoni was the lead scorer for Delhi with 60 runs before falling to India’s veteran spinner caught by Prerak Mankad. Jadeja’s final two wickets were that of Harsh Tyagi for three runs and Navdeep Saini for a duck.

Skipper Shubman Gill was leading Punjab in their game against former champions Karnataka in Bengaluru. The visiting side were bundled out for just 55 runs as Vasuki Koushik picked 4/16 from his 11 overs. Gill was out for just four runs when he edged behind to Krishna Srijith to give Abhilash Shetty the huge wicket. 

Ramandeep Singh (16) and Mayank Markande (12) were the only batters to register double digits on the board. Abhilash Shetty picked three wickets, and India’s pacer Prasidh Krishna bowled with good pace and hostility to pick two wickets from eight overs. 

Defending champions Mumbai were all out for 120 just after lunch in their game against Jammu and Kashmir. Auqib Nabi struck first to dismiss Yashasvi Jaiswal for four runs. Umar Nazir then got the big scalp of Rohit Sharma for three. The 31-year-old also dismissed skipper Ajinkya Rahane for 12 runs. 

Shardul Thakur came to Mumbai’s rescue with 51 off 57 balls with five boundaries and two sixes. Tanush Kotian batted well to score 26 runs and also added 63 runs for the eighth wicket with Thakur in 11 overs. Shreyas Iyer began his innings well with a six before giving his wicket away to Yudhvir Singh. Both Umar Nazir and Yudhvir Singh picked four wickets apiece while Auqib Nabi picked two wickets.
