The batting stalwart and India skipper, Rohit Sharma is set to be in action in the Ranji Trophy after a long gap of ‘almost a decade’. He will be in action for his home domestic team Mumbai in the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024-25 game against Jammu and Kashmir. The game will start on January 23.
Notably, Rohit will be making his first-ever Ranji Trophy appearance since he last played for Mumbai in the domestic tournament in November 2015. Rohit has struggled with a poor run of form for the last couple of months, especially in the red-ball cricket. The Indian stalwart will be playing for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy to get his form back in the game's longest format.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai skipper and Rohit’s long-time friend Ajinkya Rahane came up with a big statement while speaking about his Mumbai and India teammate.

Rahane backed the 37-year-old to come up with a stronger comeback in red-ball cricket with his appearance in the First-Class format of domestic cricket.
“See, Rohit is Rohit. We all know that. Aapko bhi pata hai Rohit ka character (You also know Rohit's character). I am really happy to have both of them back in the Mumbai dressing room. Rohit has always been relaxed. Even playing at the international level, his character is similar,” said Rahane ahead of Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy clash against Jammu and Kashmir.
“His attitude is pretty much relaxed. He knows his game really well so, no one has to tell him what he needs to do. Once he gets in, I'm sure he will do well. He has never changed, which is a very good thing,” he added later.
Rohit Sharma has been under the scanner for his poor batting form and his role as a skipper since India lost two consecutive Test series against New Zealand at home and against Australia in Australia.
