During a difficult time in his career, Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw disclosed that Rishabh Pant was the only person who helped him. Being left out of the Mumbai team for the Ranji Trophy and then being unsold in the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) mega auction had caused Shaw to have a difficult time in his career.

Although the 25-year-old was once hailed as the future Sachin Tendulkar, he fell short of the hype and was dismissed from the Indian squad in 2021. The Mumbai batsman recently disclosed that Rishabh Pant was the only one who helped him through his difficult time. "Rishabh Pant keeps on contacting me whenever he feels something is wrong," Shaw said.

Prithvi Shaw also acknowledged that he had made several poor choices during his life and began to devote less time to cricket. "I have taken a lot of wrong decisions in life. I started giving less time to cricket. I used to practise a lot. For example, I used to bat for 3-4 hours in nets. I never got tired of batting. I used to go to the ground for half a day. I admit that there was a distraction," he added.

Shaw further revealed that his mind was further diverted from the game by the company he kept. "After that, I started considering what was not necessary as necessary. I made some wrong friends. Because I was at the top at that time. Friendship is also formed. Then they took me here and there—all those things. Then I got away from the track. I used to give 8 hours of practice on the ground. Now it is 4 hours," Shaw said.

Prithvi Shaw to leave Mumbai Cricket Association

Ahead of the forthcoming domestic season, Shaw has written to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) requesting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to swap teams, indicating his intention to play for a different side in domestic cricket. Shaw informed the MCA in writing that he was given the chance to play for a different state association and believes it will help him advance as a cricket player.

Due to fitness concerns, the 25-year-old was left out of Mumbai's Ranji Trophy squad last year. He was passed over for the Vijay Hazare Trophy last season, despite rejoining the team for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
