In what seems to be very shocking for Pakistan Cricket and the global cricketing fraternity, Pakistan’s senior investigative journalist Mubashir Lucman threw up some serious match-fixing allegations over the Pakistan Cricket Team, especially the skipper Babar Azam. The claims were made by Mubashir Lucman in a recently shared video on YouTube, which is now making rounds on social media like wildfire.

Senior journalist Lucman raised the allegation against Babar around the costly Audi e-Tron car the latter received as a gift. The cost of the car is approximately around INR 2 crores, which would be double the currency of Pakistan.

“Babar Azam has got new e-Tron. He has said his brother gifted it. I wondered what his brother does when he is gifting a Rs 7-8 crore car. I found out that he does nothing. Then somebody told me that if you lose to small teams, even then you will not get plots, cars then who will get? I told the person that these were serious allegations. He told me everyone knows who is doing what,” Mubashir Lucman had said in a viral video.

PCB breaks silence on Mubashir Lucman's allegations

In the same line of events, after a lot of reactions and responses from cricket fans, experts and a lot of people in the cricketing fraternity, the Pakistan Cricket Board has broken the silence on the same.

“We are fully aware of these negative comments. Criticism within the bounds of the game is acceptable and there is no objection to it. However, baseless allegations like match-fixing cannot be tolerated under any circumstances,” said a PCB source reported by a Pakistan media outlet.

“PCB has no doubts, so why should we conduct an inquiry? Those who made the allegations should provide proof. We have instructed our legal department to issue notices to such individuals and demand evidence. If not provided, we will seek compensation for defamation. A new law in Punjab ensures that a decision will come within six months,” the source added later when the Board was asked if they would conduct any enquiry.
