India's Super 8 journey started off on a good note with a win against Afghanistan in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. The magic of Suryakumar Yadav with the bat and Jasprit Bumrah's brilliance with the ball helped the team clinch the much-needed victory by 47 runs. India's next encounter is with Bangladesh on June 22, which is also an important match.

The contest started off with Rohit Sharma winning the toss and choosing to bat first. He definitely went by the previous records of teams winning the match after batting first. When the batters came in to bat, a score of 180 seemed far enough since India lost three early wickets. However, SKY played a responsible innings of 53 runs off 28 balls, along with Hardik Pandya, who scored 32 runs off 24 balls.

Both the batters went on pretty well, which helped the team get past 180 runs. The best part was the little contributions from other batters, including Virat Kohli, who scored 24 runs off 24 balls, including one six. It was surely Fazalhaq Farooqi and Rashid Khan's day as both bowlers picked up three wickets each and restricted India from scoring more runs.

Jasprit Bumrah does it again

It won't be wrong to say that this is the perfect time to declare Jasprit Bumrah as the best bowler across formats currently. Man is something else, and the entire world might agree with it. Bumrah not picking up wickets has become a rare occurrence these days. In this match, Boom Boom also proved why he's the best bowler in the world, irrespective of the format. He clinched three wickets by conceding just seven runs in his four-over quota.

Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets each and helped India win the match. Except for Azmatullah Omarzai, no other batter touched the 20-run mark and ended up losing the match by 47 runs. He scored 26 runs off 20 balls. With this win, India remain undefeated against Afghanistan in T20Is. Overall, it was a good cricket game as the match didn't end with low scores or didn't get interrupted by the rain as well. The upcoming matches of all the teams will be super fun since the contest is just getting better every day.
