Fast bowler Haris Rauf is in the eye of a storm after his much-publicized fight with a fan. It is yet another black mark for the Pakistani team after their early exit from the T20 World Cup. The video of Haris Rauf losing his temper at a fan and nearly getting into a fisticuff hasn’t gone down well with social media users.

Pakistan Cricket Board on the other hand is likely to press legal charges on the fan. It is learned that the Board is backing its player after the entire situation came to light on Tuesday.

Mohsin Naqvi the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board put out a statement which read “Strongly condemning the appalling incident involving Haris Rauf. Such actions, against our players are completely unacceptable, and will not be tolerated. Those who are involved must immediately apologize to Haris Rauf, failing which we will pursue legal action against the individual responsible”

Pakistani cricketers come out in support of Haris Rauf

Ever since the incident involving Pakistani speedster Haris Rauf came to light, the cricket world has stood divided. The player himself put out a statement which read “I decided not to bring this up on social media, but now that the video is out, I feel it is necessary to address the situation”

The Pakistani pacer went on to write “As public figures, we are open to all kinds of feedback from the public. They are entitled to support or criticize us. When it comes to my parents and my family, I will not hesitate to respond accordingly. It is important to show respect towards people and their families, irrespective of their profession”

Meanwhile, Pakistani wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan is in the eye of the storm himself. His tweet backing his teammate has angered the Indians fans on social media. Rizwan wrote on Twitter “It is irrelevant whether the person who disrespected Haris Rauf is was from India or Pakistan. What truly matters is that this individual lacked values and manners”

Rizwan also added “No one has the right to disrespect any human being, especially in front of their family members. Such appalling behaviour must be stopped. Values like tolerance, respect, and compassion are increasingly rare commodities”

Players like Hasan Ali, Shadab Khan, and many others have come out in support of Haris Rauf. On the other hand, India’s noted sports journalist, Vikrant Gupta took to Twitter and while replying to a fan said “The Anti-India, victim card has expired”
