*It is going to be a busy few weeks for India after they end their T20 World Cup campaign. The next challenge for India will be the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe which is set to begin on 6th July.

According to reports doing the rounds, India are set to be led by Shubman Gill for the series. The 24-year-old was part of the Indian squad as a travelling reserve for the T20 World Cup 2024.

Shubman Gill was in the news after he had to return home ahead of the game versus Canada. There were rumors regarding his discipline and there were further reports stating he had unfollowed Rohit Sharma on social media.

VVS Laxman likely to be India’s interim coach

There is still an embargo over the Indian coaching slot, which will be vacant after Rahul Dravid steps down. It is believed that Gautam Gambhir is at the forefront of taking over as the coach of the team. The decision hasn’t been finalized by the BCCI so that would mean VVS Laxman will be the coach for the five-match T20I series.

Young Abhishek Sharma who was at his best during IPL 2024 is set to earn a call-up to the Indian team for the series. There are also reports that Riyan Parag could also be part of the squad for the tour.

Fast bowlers Mayank Yadav and Harshit Rana are rumoured to be in the fray for a call-up, while all-rounder Nitish Reddy’s name has also been in the mix. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are set to be rested for the tour along with Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Rishabh Pant.

The wicketkeeper for the tour will be Sanju Samson while Rinku Singh will be one of the main batters for the men in blue. After the tour of Zimbabwe, the Indians will tour Sri Lanka for a short white ball series with 3 ODI and T20 matches.

On Monday, India will take on Australia in the final Super-8 match of the T20I World Cup in St. Lucia. At the moment, India leads the table with Australia in second place. The Aussies had lost their previous game to Afghanistan causing a huge dent in their hopes to make it to the Semi-finals. In the other group, South Africa and England have made it through after South Africa beat West Indies by 3 wickets on Monday.
