'My dad isn’t media trained' - Ravichandran Ashwin reacts to father's controversial retirement announcement

Ravichandran Ashwin, an Indian all-rounder, has clarified his remarks after his father said that he declared his retirement from cricket because he had been humiliated for a long time. Ashwin requested on his official social media account that the media ignore his father and pardon him for his remarks. He said that his father lacks media training.

Ravichandran Ashwin tweeted, "My dad isn’t media trained, dey father enna da ithelaam. I never thought you would follow this rich tradition of “dad statements”. Request you all to forgive him and leave him alone."

Ravichandran Ashwin declared his intention to retire from all forms of international cricket. Fans were taken aback by his decision, which he made in the midst of the Australian Border-Gavaskar series. In the third test match, which ended in a tie with Australia, Ravichandran Ashwin was removed from the starting lineup. The main decision was the consequence of his exclusion from the squad, which led to rumours that he was dissatisfied.

For the first Test of the series in Perth, India selected Sundar over R Ashwin. Ashwin came back to Adelaide to play in the pink-ball Test. But for the third Test in Brisbane, the seasoned off-spinner was benched, and Ravindra Jadeja replaced him in the starting lineup.

According to an interview with Ravichandran Ashwin's father, his son declared his retirement after feeling embarrassed by his removal from the team. He said that his son's decision to quit international cricket surprised him. He stated that there might be a variety of reasons for the significant choice and that he learned about it at the last minute. "Only Ashwin knows, maybe he was humiliated", said his father.

His father stated that he was both pleased and saddened by his son's choice to stop playing international cricket. "I should have kept playing for the country," he said. Following the completion of the third Test match of the series at Gabba, Ashwin went straight home.

With 765 wickets in all forms, Ashwin is India's second-most successful bowler in Test history and announces his retirement from international cricket.
