Jay Shah took to social media and announced Rohit Sharma as the Brand Ambassador of the T20 World Cup 2026. The ICC Chairman felt Rohit was the best option, given he was a part of all nine editions of the T20 World Cup. The T20 World Cup 2024 winning skipper was privileged, given that he had not yet retired from international cricket.

Shah took to X and regarded it to be his honor to announce Sharma as the Brand Ambassador of the tournament. In another tweet, he congratulated the Indian Women's Team, which won the inaugural edition of the Blind World Cup recently.

"It’s my honour to announce that @ImRo45 is the tournament ambassador for the upcoming @T20WorldCup in India & Sri Lanka. There can be no better representative for the event than the winning captain of the 2024 T20 World Cup, and a player who has been in all nine editions so far," Shah wrote on X.

"While playing, no one has become the brand ambassador," - Rohit Sharma

"Congratulations to the @blind_cricket Indian team for winning the first-ever Blind Women's T20 World Cup, an event that re-defines the limits of ‘ability' and inspires differently abled athletes in India and around the world," Shah wrote on X. After the announcement, Rohit spoke while the schedule was released for the tournament.

The former Indian skipper noted the fact that he was provided with the special honor while he had not retired from all formats of the game. Rohit thanked ICC for the privilege. "Someone told me, while playing, no one has become the brand ambassador, so it's a great privilege - thanks to ICC," Rohit said while the announcement of the T20 World Cup schedule.
