Indian cricket star Ishan Kishan has made an amazing comeback to cricket. The 26-year-old sent a notice to the selectors during the Duleep Trophy tournament. Kishan scored 111 runs for India C against India B in the game that ended on Sunday.
The Indian cricketer took to Instagram and posted a picture of himself batting and wrote “Unfinished business”. In the post, the left-handed batter and wicketkeeper posted a series of pictures where he could be seen batting.
Ishan Kishan last played for India against Australia during the T20I series in Guwahati. He was eventually replaced by Jitesh Sharma for the rest of the series. After not being played during the T20I versus South Africa, the youngster decided to return home.
The move was due to mental tiredness as cited by the Indian cricket star. The absence from cricket meant that the BCCI didn’t award Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer with central contracts.
Can Ishan Kishan make his comeback to international cricket?
Indian cricket selectors have already announced the team for the 1st Test vs Bangladesh. Rishabh Pant is set to be the frontline wicketkeeper with Dhruv Jurel as the backup. The final round of the Duleep Trophy is also set to start on Thursday along with the 1st Test in Chennai.
One more good performance from Ishan Kishan could see him potentially stake a claim for a place in the team. While a return to the Test team for the Bangladesh seems out of bounds, there is a chance during the T20I format.
Post the Test series India and Bangladesh will play in a three-match T20I series. Suryakumar Yadav and the Indian selectors will keep a close on the form shown by the 26-year-old.
According to reports doing the rounds, the selectors could rest a few top stars for the series. With the New Zealand and Australian series around the corner, BCCI wants to manage the workload of their players. Apart from that the men in blue also tour South Africa for a short T20I series.
Meanwhile, India C leads the table after two rounds with 9 points from 2 matches. India B are second with 7 points from 2 matches. India A are third with 6 points from 2 games and won their last game. India D are out of reckoning as they are last without any points. The table topping team will win the Duleep Trophy 2024 tournament.
