Indian cricket team is set for a busy few months. The Rohit Sharma-led side will be playing Test matches at home. This is to be followed by a tour of Australia where they will play Five Test Matches. Meanwhile, former Indian cricket star Dinesh Karthik has urged the BCCI to pick Harshit Rana for the tour.
Speaking to Cricbuzz, the former Indian star said “Harshit Rana. He has special skills. A good backspin off the ball. Kisses of the pitch and he is a very talented bowler. I really wish they take him to Australia because he can make a difference there.
Surprisingly, The Indian selection committee didn't pick Harshit Rana for the first Test against Bangladesh to be played in Chennai. Left-arm pacer Yash Dayal was given his maiden call-up to the side after an impressive showing in the first round of the Duleep Trophy 2024 season.
Dinesh Karthik feels Harshit Rana should have been picked for Bangladesh Test matches
During his chat with Cricbuzz, former Indian star Dinesh Karthik felt that the selection committee erred in not picking Harshit Rana for the Bangladesh series.
The former Indian star said “I just thought! Could there have been a spot for Harshit? I felt he bowled really well and there was something special about him. But they already have four good medium pacers”
Harshit Rana picked 4 wickets in the current Duleep Trophy game. The pacer has impressed everyone with his extra bounce and ability to generate good pace off the wicket. The 22-year-old played a huge role in Kolkata Knight Riders winning the IPL 2024 title.
The young pace bowler turns 23 this December and will hope to continue his good run of form. Harshit Rana has played 8 games in first-class cricket and picked 32 wickets with a best of 7/45. Along with Mayank Yadav from Delhi, the two young pacers created a huge impression with the ball in the 2024 season of IPL.
