IPL Retention 2025: PBKS Retained & Released Players list along with remaining purse

Punjab Kings have the highest purse going into the auction of the IPL 2025. The 2014 runner-ups have retained two youngsters in Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh. In total, they have a purse of INR 110.5 crores after retaining Shashank and Prabsimran for INR 5.5 and 4 crores respectively. They are left with a total of 4 RTM cards and the highest purse for the auction.

Punjab Kings have constantly underperformed in the IPL after making it to the final for the first and only time in their history in 2014. They have the knack of finishing in the mid-table despite having a great squad on the paper. Despite having some of the best players in the world, they have not been able to win the title even once.

Along with RCB and DC, PBKS is the only franchise to have not won a title among the teams that were formed in 2008. In the most recent season in 2024, they did not perform well either. Their batting was a big letdown despite having some big names. They would like to change the things around in 2025.

PBKS' retentions ahead of IPL auctions 2025

PBKS retained Shashank Singh for a price of INR 5.5 crores. He was one of the emerging stars of the season and carried Punjab's batting along with Ashutosh Sharma for the entire season. In 14 innings in the IPL 2024, Shashank scored 354 runs at a batting average of 44.25, at a batting SR of 164.65, including two 50+ scores.

On the other hand, Prabhsimran Singh has been pretty good for PBKS in the last couple of seasons. The emerging star scored 358 and 334 runs in the last couple of seasons for his side. While his Strike rate was 150.42 in 2023, it was 156.81 in 2024. If required, he can keep the wickets as well.
