Ever since the Indian Premier League (IPL) started almost all the biggest names in the game have played in the league. With the progression of every season, the allure of watching top-class batting makes the fans throng to the ground. In 17 years of the league, some of the batting talent that has been on display has been awe-inspiring.
Virat Kohli has been one of the best batters in the history of the league. During the IPL 2016 season, the former Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper nearly scored 1000 runs. Barring a few players, none of the batters have come close to achieving the feat since.
To show appreciation for the efforts of the batters and to reward them for their efforts, the league came up with a special initiative. Each season batters in the league fight for the special Orange Cap which is presented to the highest run scorer during a season.
