West Indian cricket legend Chris Gayle has created a lot of records during his time as a top-flight star. The left-handed batter has left many fans in awe with his power-hitting ability to decimate any bowling attack. Not just international cricket fans but also loyal supporters of franchise cricket.

One of the records that Chris Gayle possesses is the fastest century in the IPL. The feat came during the same game where he scored his 175 not out against Pune Warriors India in IPL 2013. The West Indian star smashed Mitchell Marsh for 28 runs in the 5th over to reach his fifty off just 17 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes.

The Windies star then took on Aaron Finch for 28 runs in 5 balls to reach 95 runs off 27 balls. The century came in the 9th over as Ashok Dinda was hit for a six thanks to a free hit. Gayle went down on his knees as the massive crowd in Bengaluru lost their voice. The left-handed batter had scored a ton in just 30 balls to set a new IPL record.

Australian sensation Jake Fraser-McGurk has already set the IPL on storm with his blistering batting. The 22-year-old has scored 330 runs from the 9 matches with 4 half-centuries. The young batter has an average of 36 and a strike rate of 234. This make young Jake Fraser-McGurk as the ideal candidate to break Chris Gayle’s record and score the fastest 100 in IPL history.

Out of the 9 innings he has batted, Jake Fraser-McGurk has scored runs at a strike rate of over 200 on five occasions. His big hitting ability as well as his powerful shot making makes the 22-year-old a dangerous batter in the powerplay overs. This gives the young Aussie to script history with the bat and possibly create a new IPL record.

Just like Chris Gayle in his prime, Australian batter Travis Head set IPL on fire during the 2024 season. The left-handed batter made his return to the league in 2024 after his last appearance in 2017. By the end of the season, he had scored 567 runs from 15 matches with an average of 40.5 and strike rate of 191 runs.

The left-handed batter has been a huge threat in the powerplay overs with his seamless hitting ability coming to the fore. Travis Head can be a genuine threat to Chris Gayle’s 30 ball century record during the IPL 2025 season. The Australian star could break the record and score the fastest century in IPL history.
