The Washington Freedom have stormed into the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2024 finals. They won the qualifier against San Francisco Unicorns to reach the championship's finals. Freedom chased down a score of 146 runs and won the game by seven wickets. After their victory, some teammates tried copying the batting style of Steven Smith, Washington Freedom's brand ambassador.
A video uploaded on MLC's social media showed several players like Jake Fraser-McGurk, Saurabh Natrevalkar, Cameron White, Andrew Tye, and many more players imitating Smith's batting. While Jake belongs to the Unicorns, he seemed to enjoy his time there during the practice session.
Now, the San Francisco Unicorns will play against the Texas Super Kings in the Challenger game, and the winner of this game will proceed to the finals to play against Washington Freedom. TSK will be looking forward to the victory since Super Kings have a thing playing in the Finals.
Washington Freedom's brand ambassador, Steve Smith, spoke about the plans of the team, which helped them keep the opponents under 150. It was a great bowling effort by the bowlers, and the top order did well to chase the target without losing many wickets.
"We wanted to take wickets with the new ball, it gets easier as the game gets on so always good to make early inroads. I think the bowlers did well to keep them to 145 which was a bit under par. Travis and Maxi then played unbelievably well," said Steve Smith at the post-match presentation.
