Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill’s unbeaten stand helped GT beat Delhi Capitals by ten wickets to qualify for the playoffs. Mumbai Indians’ win over Delhi meant that the former IPL champions became the fourth side to stamp their names into the playoffs. With GT’s win even Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings made it to the knock stages.

The race for the top slots comes down to the final two games of the season. Punjab Kings are set to host Mumbai Indians on Monda, while RCB will play Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday in their final games of the season. RCB saw their game against Kolkata get washed out due to rain and then lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad by 42 runs.

Punjab Kings won their game against Rajasthan Royals by ten runs before losing to Delhi by six wickets. Losses to GT, PBKS, and RCB meant that the trio lost the chance to make it to the top two spots of the points.

Here is how each team can finish in the top two spots of the IPL 2025 points table

4- Mumbai Indians – 16 points from 13 matches

It is a simple equation for Mumbai Indians, the former champions just have to beat PBKS to secure the top two spots in the points table. Since Mumbai has the best run-rate amongst all the sides, the win will ensure they can with 18 points from 14 matches. In case the PBKS vs MI game ends up without a result both sides will get one point. In such a scenario MI will have 17 points from 14 games and could lose out on a top four finish.

3- Royal Challengers Bengaluru – 17 Points from 13 games

Rajat Patidar’s side have slid to third in the table due to the huge loss they suffered in their last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Bengaluru has a chance to secure their top two spot in the points table if they beat Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday. This irrespective of the result on Monday night in Jaipur. If RCB loses their game to LSG, then they will be playing the first eliminator game on 30th May.

2- Punjab Kings – 17 Points from 13 games

Just like MI, even Shreyas Iyer and his side have a simple task on their hands. Win over the Men in Blue and Gold will take PBKS to 19 points in the table and move to the top of the table and end the season as the number one side going into the playoffs. PBKS are currently second in the table with same amount of points as RCB only separated by net run-rate.

1- Gujarat Titans – 18 Points from 14 games

Shubman Gill’s side can only watch on the and hope for results to go their way in the game between LSG and RCB. For GT to have two bites of the cheery in the playoff games, Lucknow has to beat Bengaluru on Tuesday. This will mean that the winner of the game between MI and PBKS will be joined by the Titans as the top two sides of IPL 2025 season.
