'Richa Ghosh unavailable due to 12th exams' - Indian Women's squad announced for 3-match ODI series against New Zealand Women

The Indian Women's Squad is out for the 3-match ODI series against the New Zealand Women. Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana will continue to be the captain and vice-captain of the side. Richa Ghosh, Asha Sobhana, and Pooja Vastrakar are set to miss the series due to various reasons. BCCI gave an update on the same by taking to X and other social media platforms.

Harmanpreet Kaur , despite the criticism of India's campaign in the Women's T20 World Cup and her own form in it, has been backed to lead the side. Smriti will continue to be her deputy. The team has some familiar names with the batters like Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Yastika Bhatia, Uma Chetry, and others. 

The team also has some regular bowlers like Renuka Singh Thakur, Radha Yadav, and Shreyanka Patil. There are some familiar All-Rounders like Arundhati Reddy, Deepti Sharma, and Dayalan Hemalatha. Additionally, some of the younger talents like Sayali Satgare, Tejal Hasabnis, Saima Thakor, and Priya Mishra have got a chance to take part in the series.

'Ms. Richa Ghosh was unavailable for selection due to her 12th standard board exams' - BCCI

BCCI claimed that Richa Ghosh, Asha Sobhana, and Pooja Vastrakar were out of the series due to different reasons. Richa was ruled out as she had her 12th exams. Sobhana was getting nursed for her injury and became unavailable by default. Pooja was claimed to be rested for the series.

"Notes - Ms. Richa Ghosh was unavailable for selection due to her 12th standard board exams. Ms. Asha Sobhana is currently nursing an injury and was unavailable for selection. Ms. Pooja Vastrakar has been rested for the series," wrote the official handle of BCCI on X. The fans have claimed it to be a decent squad and wished the team luck for the big series.
