India and South Africa are set to lock horns in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024. The two unbeaten teams of the tournament will meet at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on Saturday, June 29. Both teams topped the points table in the group stage and Super 8s and emphatically entered the finals. 

Rohit Sharma and Co. defeated the defending champions England by 68 runs in the second semi-final. On the other hand, Aiden Markram and his team annihilated Afghanistan by nine wickets to mark their presence in a World Cup final for the first time in history.

India and South Africa have met 26 times in the shorter format of the game. With 14 wins, the Men in Blue have a slight upper hand in their rivalry. The Proteas managed to win on 11 occasions and one of their encounters ended without a result.

Looking at their head-to-head stats in the T20 World Cup, the two formidable units have met a total of six times. The inaugural edition champions are leading the battle in the marquee event as well, with four wins compared to South Africa's two victories.

Meanwhile, it was the Rainbow Nation who emerged victorious in the previous head-to-head at the 2022 World Cup. India were restricted to 133-9 at the back of Lungi Ngidi's four-wicket haul and Wayne Parnell's three-fer. In reply, South Africa won by five wickets with two balls to spare on the strength of half-centuries from Aiden Markram and David Miller.

However, South Africa failed to qualify for the semi-finals last time, while India suffered a 10-wicket loss to England in the knockout stage. The inaugural edition champions will be eager to avenge their defeat in 2022 as they aim for their second title in the 20-over format. Both teams are strong and have put in remarkable performances throughout, promising a thrilling battle in the final.
