In what seems to be a relieving piece of news for the Indian Cricket Team and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the star speedster Mohammed Shami has started his recovery from the heel injury. The star performer with the ball for India in the ODI World Cup 2023 was the leading wicket-taker in the prestigious cricket quadrennial.

Since then, the Indian camp has been missing the veteran pacer as he had been through an Achilles tendon surgery earlier this year in February. The final of the ODI World Cup 2023 between India and Australia was the last appearance of Mohammed Shami in the Indian colours.

A report by News18 understands that Shami has started bowling at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Head of Sports Science and Medicine, Dr Nitin Patel and Strength & Conditioning Coach Rajnikanth are monitoring all the fitness developments concerning Mohammed Shami.

Meanwhile, Shami’s childhood coach Badruddin also spoke about the former's bowling routine and cleared about run-up and style of bowling during the practice in the NCA nets.

“Shami has started bowling. Not with full run-up or full tilt but has started releasing the ball without any discomfort in the nets. This is a good sign because bowling activity has begun,” said Badruddin.

In the same line of events, one of the sources close to Mohammed Shami revealed the possible comeback of Mohammed Shami for the national side of India at the highest level of the game.

“No doubt he will be back in India colours very soon. You would have seen the progress he has been making via the social media videos and the post. He is working very hard but more clarity will come when bowling resumes at full tilt and how the body reacts after that,” said the source.
