Overview
- ICC updated the Test rankings, following the conclusion of the Lord's and Kingston Tests
- Joe Root reclaimed the top spot in batting, while Harry Brook and Yashasvi Jaiswal fell down
- 5 of the top 10 Test bowlers are from Australia, given the way they bowled against the West Indies
ICC updated the Test rankings after the conclusion of the Lord's Test between India and England, and the Frank Worrell Trophy between Australia and the West Indies in mid-July. Joe Root, who smashed a ton and contributed well in the second innings along with his slip fielding, climbed to the top of the rankings in batting.
His teammate, Harry Brook, who was at the top, fell down by a spot due to his bad performance in the Lord's Test. Likewise, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Shubman Gill also fell down in the rankings, but remained in the Top 10. Saud Shakeel, Sean Williams, Daryl Mitchell, and Patthum Nissanka climbed up a spot as well.

Cameron Green, KL Rahul, and Ravindra Jadeja had massive jumps following their performances in the Kingston and Lord's Tests, respectively. In the Bowling department, Jasprit Bumrah maintained distance from other bowlers at the top, while Scott Boland rose by six spots, following his hat-trick in the Kingston Test.
Ravindra Jadeja maintains distance in the All-Rounders rankings
Boland's teammates, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood, maintained their rankings, and Nathan Lyon fell by a spot, which meant five of the top 10 Test bowlers were from Australia. Matt Henry, Marco Jansen, and Gus Atkinson fell down for not playing a match in July.

While Jayden Seales, Ravindra Jadeja, Taijul Islam, Asitha Fernando, Kemar Roach, Sajid Khan, and Keshav Maharaj all fell down in rankings, Shamar Joseph claimed a massive gain of 15 spots to feature in the Top 15 of the Test rankings for the first time in his career. In the All-rounders category, Jadeja has maintained a massive distance and is unlikely to be dethroned for the rest of the year.
