The Indian batting stalwart and skipper, Rohit Sharma, has achieved a huge success as captain for India in white-ball cricket. The 36-year-old led the Men in Blue to register a historic title win in the T20 World Cup 2024, ending their 17-year-long wait for a T20 World Cup win.
Just 8-9 months later, in March 2025, Team India once again created history under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, clinching the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. It was India’s Champions Trophy win after a long wait of 12 years since they won it last in 2013 in England.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma was recently in a conversation with the former World Cup-winning Australia skipper, Michael Clarke. In this conversation, Clarke asked Rohit about his priority across the different formats of the game.

Representing the country was the pinnacle – Rohit Sharma
While replying to Michael Clarke’s question, the Indian skipper came up with a blunt response, making his stance very clear on his priority among the T20Is, ODIs, and Tests.
“Personally, to me, representing the country was the pinnacle - I wouldn't put Test Cricket over T20 cricket or T20 Cricket over Test Cricket - For me, all three formats are equally important,” said Rohit Sharma to Michael Clarke on the Beyond23 Cricket Podcast.
Furthermore, Rohit Sharma also made a big revelation around the what were the situations that led to management dropping Rohit Sharma from the last Test in Sydney. Almost three months after the Sydney Test, the Indian skipper finally cleared the air and ended all the speculations.
“I didn't have a great game (in Adelaide). Then I went back to the room, and I was like, I should've opened man. I would rather fail doing what I do and where I do it. That's my place, that's my position. I would rather go there and bat, whether I get success or not, it's a different story. But I'm in my natural position for the team,” said Rohit.
“And I said, no. It's only one game. Let's not overthink, let's give it another game. It's 1-1. We can try and change things around in Brisbane. And then, it was a draw. When we got back to Melbourne, we changed our minds. I went back to open the innings, and in the last Test match... I had to be honest with myself. I wasn't hitting the ball well. I didn't want to put myself there only because we had dropped the other guys who were struggling as well,” he added later.
