Former India cricketer Yograj Singh has demanded Bharat Ratna for his son and legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh. He claims that there will never be another Yuvraj in the history of Indian cricket and the government should recognise his contributions, including playing with cancer and winning the World Cup.

“I dare everyone to give birth to a son like Yuvraj. Even Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag have said in the past that there won’t be another Yuvraj Singh. India should award him the Bharat Ratna for playing with cancer and winning the World Cup for the country,” Yograj said in an interview with Zee Switch’s YouTube channel.

Yuvraj played a key role in India's World Cup triumphs in 2007 and 2011 with significant contributions in all three departments. In the inaugural T20 World Cup, the southpaw made history by hitting six sixes in an over against England and then played a match-winning knock in the semi-final against Australia.

He was adjudged the Player of the Tournament in the 2011 ODI World Cup, which India won by defeating Sri Lanka in the final in Mumbai. Yuvraj amassed 361 runs and took 15 wickets for the team led by MS Dhoni.

Yograj claims Dhoni ruined his son’s career; says he’ll never forgive legendary skipper

MS Dhoni is undoubtedly one of the most loved cricketers in India. However, Yograj, the Ranchi-born cricketer is a villain. According to him, Dhoni has ruined the life of his son, who “could have played for four to five more years”.

“I won’t forgive MS Dhoni. He should look at his face in the mirror. He is a very big cricketer, but what he has done against my son, everything is coming out now; it can never be forgiven in life,” said Yograj, who played in one Test and six ODIs for India in 1981.

“I have never done two things in life—first, I have never forgiven anybody who has done wrong for me, and second, I have never hugged them in my life, be it my family members or my kids,” he added.

Yuvraj Singh, who scored 11778 international runs, announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on 10 June 2019. He last represented India in June 2017 against the West Indies.
