Harry Brook has made a huge statement during the Press Conference ahead of the Manchester Test 2025 between India and England, and claimed Joe Root as the greatest Test batter of all time, snubbing greats like Sachin Tendulkar and Steve Smith in the process. The English batter regarded Root to be phenomenal and on a different level.
In the Press Conference, Brook felt everyone wishes to be the Number One batter, and added that Root is no different. Brook noted that Root has played about 12-13 years at the highest level in whites and claimed him to be the greatest batter in the longest format of the game.

"Everybody wants to be number one, don't they? Him (Root), probably more than anybody else. He's a phenomenal player. I'm not in the same league as him. I'll happily let him have it. He's played for 12-13 years. In my opinion, he is the best Test batter of all time. So, I'll let him have that," said Brook in the Press Conference.
Joe Root to overtake Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kallis, and Ricky Ponting
Brook opened up on the conversation he had with Root before his Test debut. The emerging batter added that Root informed him about his big breakthrough in the Test side and shared a shakehand to celebrate the big moment.
"He did (speak to me about it) the first time, when we were in New Zealand. He gave me a handshake. And then he took it off me, three days later," Brook added in his statement.

Root is on the cusp of creating history at the Manchester Test. The right-handed batter, who is currently the fifth-highest run-getter in Tests, has a good chance of overtaking Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kallis, and Ricky Ponting in the upcoming Test, who are just 29, 30, and 119 runs away from him.
