Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has confirmed that his senior pro Jasprit Bumrah will be taking part in the fourth Test for India against England. India are already 1-2 down in the series after three games, and Bumrah's availability comes as a big boost ahead of the must-win encounter at the Old Trafford in Manchester, which is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, July 23.
Siraj kept a very smiling face, as he revealed to the reporters during the pre-match press conference that Bumrah will be a part of the Playing XI for the upcoming clash. The Bumrah-Siraj duo will be banking on their skills to rattle the opposition with early breakthroughs in the Manchester tie.
“Jassi bhai toh khelenge, jitna mujhe pata hain (As far as I know, Jasprit Bumrah will play the fourth Test),” Siraj told on Monday, July 21.
Furthermore, the Hyderabad pacer also revealed the plan with which the Indian pace attack will take the centre stage in the upcoming five-day fixture. Siraj's revelation hints at the English batter opting a non-Bazball approach, as they did during the Lord's encounter, which eventually caused the Shubman Gill-led side to earn an unfortunate deficit in the series.
Pant looks fit to keep wickets
In another good news for the Indian team, star wicketkeeper-batter and Shubman Gill's deputy Rishabh Pant was also seen donning the wicketkeeper's gloves during a practice session on Monday. This hints at his participation, which was under the clouds up until now, as reports of Dhruv Jurel replacing him in the fourth Test surfaced in the media, whereas, Pant was expected to feature in the game as specialist batter.
India's squad: Shubman Gill (c), Rishabh Pant (vc & wk), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh*, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Kuldeep Yadav, and Anshul Kamboj
Note* - Arshdeep Singh will be available only for the final Test, set to be played at The Oval, London.
