England's Harry Brook surpassed Joe Root to become the No. 1 Test batter in the world. After some impeccable performances during the New Zealand tour, Brook went past Root. While Root's rating points are 897, Brook's are 898. This was an unexpected change that happened in the Test rankings as Root held the crown for a really long time. These two batters are way ahead of the others, making it difficult for them to catch up.

Root has been scoring runs frequently while Brook has joined the party with him. In Wellington, against New Zealand, Brook scored his eighth century, helping England win the contest in a foreign land. It was a huge win by 323 runs against New Zealand. Also, Brook scored a half-century in the second inning. For his solid contributions, Brook was given the Player of the Match award.

England dominated the hosts with their terrific batting attack. Not only Brook, Root also scored a beautiful century in the second innings that helped England put a great score on the board. New Zealand were clueless about what was coming their way since the English batters hammered the bowling attack throughout the game. With this loss, New Zealand's hopes of qualifying for the WTC Finals 2025 have dried up.

Brooky is by far and away the best player in the world: Joe Root

Joe Root, England's most consistent batter, spoke about Harry Brook and his current form after the win against New Zealand. Since Root has seen the player from a long time, he confidently said that Brook is the 'best player in the world.' He praised the player for his brilliant performance and hoped to see some more knocks in the future.

"If you asked me, Brooky is by far and away the best player in the world at the minute. He has such an all-round game; he can absorb pressure, he can apply it, he can whack you over your head for six, he can scoop you over his head for six, he can smack spin, he can smack seam. He's so hard to bowl to," said Root after winning the match for England.
