South Africa have won the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka and have moved to the first position in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 points table. They whitewashed the home series by huge margins of 233 and 109 runs, respectively. It was a great series for the cricket lovers as both teams played extremely well. However, due to Sri Lanka's lack of batting prowess, the games drifted away from them.
As per the current scenario, South Africa are likely to qualify for the WTC finals, the competition between India and Australia will get tougher. India have three more games to go, while Australia have five more. Moreover, South Africa have to play two more games, out of which they will have to win just one more to qualify for the WTC finals.
South Africa's bowling performance was incredible in the series, with Marco Jansen being the best bowler. However, 'Player of the Series' went to captain Temba Bhavuma for his relentless performance throughout the series. In the four innings, the player scored three half-centuries and one century. It was an unforgettable series for the batter.
Happy to have made the most of the opportunities: Temba Bhavuma
Temba Bhavuma was all excited for his comeback in the series. During a post-match presentation, Bhavuma said he was happy to return. He also spoke about the performance of the players and what the pitch's condition was in both matches.
"Was hungry to get back and get the opportunity to be back, happy to have made the most of the opportunities that I got. Durban was tricky on Day 1, conditions overhead, but I just focussed on keeping the scoreboard moving, kept the intent, was fresh mentally and physically and could contribute to the team," said Temba Bhavuma.
