WATCH: Harleen Deol attempts single-handed diving catch effort twice for the same shot

Harleen Deol attempted an athletic single-handed catch on either of her hands twice for the same shot against Meg Lanning during the match between Delhi Capitals Women and Gujarat Giants Women in the WPL 2025. The star player gave her best attempt but could not catch the ball even after attempting to do so thrice against the DC Women skipper.

DC Women were 85/1 at one stage in their innings when Lanning and Jess Jonassen batted in the middle. Kanwer was operating with the ball and was 0/10(2) in her first spell. The DC-W skipper sensed the need to make a move and stepped out of the crease to try and play an inside-out shot over the mid off.

Harleen, who was stationed in the region, misjudged the ball to have caught a slightly higher altitude than it was. Deol jumped and grabbed the ball from her right hand. However, it slipped from her hands. Harleen attempted a second grab with her left hand. Even that did not stick onto her hand.

Meg Lanning scores big after Harleen Deol's dropped catch

The ball popped out of her left hand, and Harleen fell on the ground exactly when the ball was about to fall. Deol's last attempt was to catch the ball with both her hands. The talented player did so while she was on the air. When Deol fell on the ground, the ball popped out of her hands.

Harleen realized it was a series of mistakes from her end to not be able to eventually grab the ball. However, Harleen's efforts were praised by fans on social media platforms. Deol herself wasn't the happiest as she could not get the job done. 

The video went viral on social media, and many had mixed opinions. While some felt it was a good effort, others felt it should have been taken, considering the ball did not pick up a high elevation. Meg made the most of the dropped catch by scoring 92 runs, which helped DC women to post 177 runs on the board.
