Duleep Trophy 2024 was expected to feature many international stars. Ahead of the squad announcement, there were reports that batting stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma would be participating in the tournament. However, these turned out to be mere rumours, and now the latest update suggests that a few other big names will not be available for the domestic red-ball tournament.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee have also announced the replacements. While Navdeep Saini replaces Siraj in the India B squad, Madhya Pradesh pacer Gaurav Yadav comes in for Malik in the India C squad. No replacements were named for Jadeja.
Unlike previous zonal squads, the tournament will feature four teams namely India A, India B, India C and India D. The Duleep Trophy, which will mark the beginning of India’s red-ball season, is set to commence on September 5 in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh and M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
