England lost the Adelaide Test by 82 runs, which led to them losing the Ashes 2025/26 with two matches to go. Ben Stokes appeared in the post-match talk and was disappointed with not being able to do what they intended to. However, the English skipper credited Australia for being the best of the two teams for a longer period of time.

"It obviously sucks. [It is] very disappointing. Knowing now that we can't achieve what we set out to do here is obviously incredibly disappointing now. We have still got two games to go in the series, there is still a hell of a lot to play for, for us as individuals, as a team," Stokes said in the press conference.

The star player added that they wouldn't kick the stumps for losing the series but rather focus on winning the last two Tests of the series. While he felt that the visiting side had its moments in the series, the veteran gave Australia the flowers for being the best of the two teams for a longer period of time.

"Australia have been a lot better than us," - Ben Stokes

"We aren't going to turn around and kick the stumps over because we lost the series here because there's still so much more to play for - although we can't go back with the goal that we came out here to do," the English All-rounder said after losing the Adelaide Test.

"We have had moments where we've been very good. But Australia have been a lot better than us on, you know, a much longer over a much longer period of time in the series," Stokes added, as he credited Australia for their series win.
